Apple Push Notification Service (APNS) Certificate Changes Impacting SOTI MobiControl Customers
The current SSL server certificate for Apple Push Notification Service (APNS) is issued byGeoTrust Global CA and will expire on April 12, 2021. On March 29, 2021, as announced by Apple, the SSL server certificate for APNS will be replaced by one issued by a new certificate authority (AAA Certificate Services).
This change by Apple will impact all customers using an on-premise installation of SOTI MobiControl to manage their Apple devices. Cloud customers are also impacted, but SOTI will manage this change for them.
Starting on March 29th, 2021, affected customers will no longer be able to manage existing iOS & macOS devices or enroll new ones until their SOTI MobiControl instance trusts the new certificate authority.
NOTE: This change is separate from the deprecation of the legacy APNS endpoint. To ensure you are leveraging the modern APNS endpoint, please refer to the following SOTI Central article: Apple Push Notification Service Changes Impacting SOTI Customers.
Recommended course of action for affected customers
Customers are required to install the new certificate authority's root certificate (AAA Certificate Services) into the System Certificate Trust Store of each of their SOTI MobiControl servers before March 29, 2021.
