You are right that they are Windows CE 7 based but I don't think you're going to have much luck enrolling them in SOTI. What exactly would you hope to perform even if you could? There are so many dependencies on VoiceConsole (Task Packages, Device Profiles, Operators, etc) with Vocollect devices that I'm not sure what having them managed in SOTI would accomplish. If you are looking to remove the dependency on VoiceConsole I don't think that is going to be possible.
Hi Matt.
Thanks for the reply. We would just want visibility to the number of devices, when they were last online, battery level, that sort of thing. We would not want to utilize any kind of package management or anything like that. It would be worth it to us to purchase the necessary number of licenses to have that sort of visibility alongside the RFs that we do use SOTI to manage the software on, as we could tell management at a glance that we are using X% of our devices while Y% sit idle, even as shift supervisors are saying they do not have enough equipment for their teams, or if it was obvious that devices are being stashed in desks rather than returned to lockers, that sort of thing.
You may want to check out Operational Visibility from Honeywell then. It helps to provide that level of visibility into device utilization metrics. Similarly SOTI Insight can do similar things for devices managed in MobiControl. Accomplishing a single pane of glass for both device types is going to be difficult and may not be worthwhile than just letting them live in their silos. I'm of the mindset that I'd rather have the right tool for the job than to force something into a single pane of glass.
