Android Lockdown Notifications PopUp

Android Lockdown Notifications PopUp

Hello everybody,

I have now dealt with the Android Lockdown notifications and what can I say it works.
The Icon on the lockdown screen has nas a red number in the upper right corner.
But unfortunately it is not what I wish for!
I would like a large pop-up window with the notification pop up or bring me directly to the dialog box.

According to a colleague of mine, he has already done it before but he no longer knows how.

Its a Android Plus Device with Mobicontrol Agent 14.4.2 and Android 5.1

Hello Sven,

Let me see if I understand your issue. You want to send a message to device or interact with system and apps alertas on notification bar?

Some information to you:

notification bar at Android only will pops up when clicked if the bundle ID was released on SOTI Lockdown profile, also you can edit your HTML template to hide some rows or collumms to don't show the application on kiosk mode this way made possible a trick to release an app on profile and dont show it on kiosk with it you can click on notification and interact in some cases.

To send message to device with pop'up release mobicontrol bundle id in kiosk profile, and use the javascript API to send message and alerts to device with all functionaly like:

https://www.soti.net/mc/help/javascriptapi/en/mobicontrol.message.TextPromptDialog.html

mobicontrol.message.createTextPromptDialog('How many balloons do you wish to order?')
    .withButtons('Red', 'Green', 'Blue')
    .withCallback(onConfirm).show();

function onConfirm(result) {
    if (result.buttonLabel != null && isNumeric(result.inputText)) {
        mobicontrol.log.info('Ordered ' + result.inputText + ' ' + result.buttonLabel + ' balloons.');
    }
}

function isNumeric(num) {
    return !isNaN(num);
}

You can collect the answer's at device log or in DB in dbo.mainlog or some log view maybe you need made some join's to get a perfect report with device name and other things.

Let me know more details of your need, send me some use case to better help you!

Hi Sven,

Could you please clarify your requirements?

If you want a pop-up to be AUTMOMATICALLY displayed when a particular kiosk app item has a new/updated notification as indicated by updated red number at corner of the icon, then I don' think it is possible within the standard html5/javascript framework supported by MobiControl kiosk, as I am not aware of any standard event associated with pending app notification defined for any javascript codes to act upon.  If your colleague has previously successfully done that, please ask him/her which additional javascript framework/library is/are used.

If you are talking about successfully creating a pop-up window to show additional information or more app items (i.e.. a hierarchical launcher layout with sub-page pop-up), then this is definitely possible.

Hello Hussni and Raymond

thank you for your help
ok i think i expressed myself a little too complicated.

If the device receives an email, it would be good if either pop-up windows opened with the email or the email program directly.

Hi Sven,

Let me try to explain how the kiosk works for notifications. You can work in two ways, blocking the bar and you will not have access to any application or system notifications. I believe this is your case? If so, you are checking this option in the lockdown profile.

I believe this is your case because of your description my suggestion is that you add a Whitelist next to your lockdown. This way you will put the same applications that are released at the lockdown on this whitelist. After that, you can remove the block of access to the notification bar as shown in the image above, if the user tries to access the settings of android will receive a system block.

You have to remember to install the mobicontrol settings app to release some user experience settings like wifi, brightness, volume and BT.

If you are receiving MC block in any notification my suggestion for quick fix of the problem is entering administrator mode, access the notification that you are receiving the block inside lockdown and when the application is open send the command identify_activity with the application on foreground at the device this will collect the correct bundle ID from application in the device logs, with this ID in hand add the WhiteList and your problem should be solved.

If you have any questions for any of the procedures described above you can call me on my contacts below and I can help you.

Using this method your user will access notifications from native user experience from Android System and MC will block the any application out of your whitelist apps profile.

Hi Sven,

With regard to your clarified requirements of  having pop-up windows for your selected email program,  As far as I know,  there is no built-in feature in Soti MobiControl to support that, neither are there any similar provision in most, if not all, commercial app launchers available on the Google Play app store.  Unless your mail app includes some mechanism to inform the system or other app that there is /are new app pending read, it is virtually impossible to have any automatic pop-up or direct email-app launching.

Hello everybody

@Hussni I tested your answer but it didn't work for meAnd now I don't know if I did something wrong.

But I found this in the Soti FAQhttps://www.soti.net/mc/help/v14.1/de/console/configurations/profiles/configurations/categories/restrictions/lockdown_notifications.htmland it works by me.

Now I have a dialog box icon and when a new mail comes in, the notification tone sounds and the icon on the lock screen turns into a red circle with a number.Is it possible that a notification on the device automatically opens the APP / Tool?

No. I cannot think of any Android design paradigms that would enable an app to automatically launch into a specific view when a push notification is received. That would be a fairly obnoxious and invasive behavior if that was available and would likely lead to a lot of abuse in the consumer world. Imagine if any app could force itself open into the foreground by receiving a push notification. Advertisers would have a field day with that.

Hi Matt,

I am glad we shared the same view on this requirement from Sven.   I believe Sven is wasting time trying something which are totally irrelevant and bound to be fruitless.
