Application Run Control for Windows Modern not working

Application Run Control for Windows Modern not working

We are having a problem restricting any UWP application for Windows Modern using the Application Run Control rule.

Our intent is to block Microsoft Edge using this profile but no matter what Windows Modern App I restrict, it does not reflect on the devices.

I have confirmed that the profile is getting installed on the devices and I have tried this on multiple devices. I have also manually created an App Locker Group Policy Rule using the same information I am inputting in SOTI which does end up restricting Edge as intended. I also ensured that the version of Edge falls within the Min and Max configured in SOTI.

I do have the profile set to "Enforce" and I am able to restrict .exe applications in the same profile. It appears that only UWP (or modern) apps will not restrict. I also ensured that an Authentication Policy is active in the same profile.

I have pulled the information for Edge using get-appxpackage Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge command in Powershell.

We are running v14.4.0.4857 but I have also tested this in an environment running v15.0.0.6019

Thank you

How come the Name field shown in your screenshot is  Micrisoft.MicrosoftEdge?  Is there a typo error there?

Also, why are the product name or binary name fields left empty?

Thank you for catching that, I did just retype that manually when I took the picture as I was trying out the package family name in that field to see if that corrected the issue.

Same results using Microsoft.MicrosoftEdge unfortunately.

I did leave the Product Name and Binary Name fields blank as SOTI did not require them and I do not know what to enter there.

I have just entered the same information required for an App Locker GPO rule: Name, Publisher, Version

Try to get relevant information of any app of interest on your device by using the freely downloadable Soti's  "Windows Companion for MobiControl".

Thank you for your help! I pulled the application information for the apps I needed and found the Binary Name needed to be "APPX" This resolved it for all UWP applications I was trying to restrict.

Thank you!
