Application sounds aren't playing in mobicontrol lockdown mode.

Hi All,

I am currently trying to configure a Spectralink Versity 9540 with an app which pushes notifications from a nursecall system to the phone. Currently the app is functioning correctly outside of lockdown mode, but when we put the phone into lockdown mode all sounds from the app are silent. As this is a critical system that is meant to notify users this is not ideal.

We have tried both Native lockdown and Activity suppression, and neither will allow notification sounds to come through.

The App is an .apk package we have uploaded to the phone, which could be part of the problem. It is not available on the google play store.

Any help or advice would be appreciated, thank you.

Just as for many countless questions of similar nature,  the solution is more or less the same.    Have your lockdown mode disabled,  run the app as usual, use MobiControl script "identify_activity" or other utilties to identify the name of app activities/services have been called by your app to support the required function(s).  This may be tricky to do, and sometimes some guesses need to be made in tens of test cycles.  Add the found name(s) to the lockdown menu and/or application-run-control whitelist.  Then, re-enable the lockdown menu.   As the solution is likely to be dependent on particular version of device firmware and app of interest, you have to perform the above yourself with your hardware/software rather than waiting for someone to give you a list.

Have you tried enabling Notification Sound under Lockdown Settings?:

Notification Sound

 

If this doesn't help then you could try the 'identity_activity' suggestion from Raymond. You could also try comparing ADB logs with/without the Lockdown and see if the activity for playing sounds is revealed so you can whitelist it within the Lockdown.
