Building Packages using MC Package Studio on Chrome OS

Building Packages using MC Package Studio on Chrome OS

Within the coming months, my company will be moving from Windows to Chrome OS and I can't seem to find an alternative way to build a package without MC Studio.exe. Any thoughts or suggestions?

Many thanks,

John

Your company is doing what?? Bold move! Can you keep a windows machine around for building packages or maybe a hosted windows server you could RDP to?

It's mostly end users in the field and some support users at our HQ. I don't think we will have access to a Windows-based PC to RDP into.

We are using a cloud instance on 13.3 using Android +, split between Samsung and Kyocera. The devices we are using are company-owned with multiple users and they do not have Google accounts. Over time the apps will become outdated and with OTA updates pushed out by the carriers, issues do come up because Google Play Services needs to be updated. Our internal applications aren't available in the Google Play Store so when an update is needed we create a new package via package studio and deploy. I guess my question is, how do we keep applications update to date without a Google account on the phone?

If the device do not have any Google account and you have the apk update file you can trust,  the only upgrade options seem to be:

1. silent installation with .pcg

2. downloading of update apk file to device via file-sync rule, followed by script (post file-sync)  to install the update (This likely requires end-user interaction/confirmation to proceed with the upgrade)
