Error sending message (Error sending message (typ=30), General communication error)

Hi SOTI,

 

One of our devices keep getting the following error message.

Error sending message (Error sending message (typ=30), General communication error)

Error sending message (Error sending message (typ=31), General communication error)

Could you please help us to fix this problem since our representative his device doesn't sync our latest data.

 

We have tried the following.

Set the rule network Restrictions on Wi-Fi only

Set the rule network Restrictions on Cellular only

Set the rule network Restrictions on LAN / Wi-Fi and Cellular

We gave the representative a brand new Samsung Galaxy tablet

 

All this above didn't help, we keep getting the type=30 and type=31 error message.

All other rules that this device has running does sync well without any problems, we even removed all rules and only kept this one to double check and still same error message.

We have over 60 devices in Europe that use multiple rules and it works perfectly, but not with this user / devices.

Hope you SOTI can help us out, because that would be great!

Thank you for posting on SOTI Central.

 

This error is typically quite self-explanatory, for example if the Rule is attempting to transmit a file and the device connection times-out. 

 

Are you able to confirm that the device is able to maintain a steady network connection whilst the data is being synced? What is the size of data you are trying to transmit? 

 

I recommend downloading the agent logs to check what is happening on the device at the time of File Sync.

Hello, 

We have the same error on our Zebra MC33 / THOR VM1A devices and both device logs shows.

2021-03-09 10:44:07.032|main|E|DO|[net.soti.mobicontrol.at.y] Unexpected reflection error|java.lang.NoSuchMethodException: isOrganizationOwnedDeviceWithManagedProfile []

Any ideas on what can cause this issue?

Thank you for requesting an answer on this post.

 

The General Communication Error can be caused by a variety of things but is usually an issue with a connection between the device and the server during an action such as a File Sync, Package deployment, device Check-in etc. So the error you are seeing in the logs is probably not related.

If you are also facing this issue then I recommend troubleshooting the device connection by testing with both WiFi and 4G hotspot, disabling Doze Mode and trying a soft reset.
