Forced roaming for ios devices.

Forced roaming for ios devices.

Hello everybody,

we do have some iPhones for our mobile workers that a close to boarders.

We would like to force active roaming for all EU devices and if possible to stop them from deactivating it.

The only Option i found is to disable roaming and stop the user from activating it again.

SotiServer 14.2

I tryed the search function but this seems to be more of an Android topic so far?!

Thank you very much.

Kind regards

Mika

Hi Mika,

Thanks for requesting an answer from SOTI Support Team!

By any chance have you set the below configurations for roaming on your iOS devices?

Hi Mika,

The screenshot I posted is from the latest version of MobiControl(v15.1).

According to your reply, did you try to enforce Data roaming setting? How does the device behave if you push this feature?

i can not find this feature. Is it a Server Version 15 + exclusive? Like i sad we use 14.2

Maybe you can show me where i can find this option?

Let me repeat myself:

The only Option i found is to disable roaming and stop the user from activating it again.

SotiServer 14.2

Hello,

no sorry i dont think so.

I can even select Enforce Data Roaming Setting without activate the Disable Data Roaming option.

This is not what you think it is.

I could be totally wrong...

I have this question too.

I am on version 15. I have tried setting none of these rules. I have also tried Enabling Roaming Restrictions and then leaving both options unchecked. In both of these cases the roaming setting on the device has remained turned off.

We are going to be wiping a redeploying devices remotely so ideally this setting can be set remotely rather than having someone manually make the change each time.

Hi Mika/Jake,

Thanks for your findings on v14.

I checked with the Product Team and got confirmed that we do not have any feature to force/enable roaming on iOS devices. We can create a Feature Request if you expect to have this option on the future builds of SOTI MobiControl. Please confirm.

Hello together,

yes i would like this feature.

Since 2017 in the EU roaming is not an issue anymore. Its more of an feature than a risk.

Kind regards

Mika

Hi Mika,

I would like you to create a support case(click here) or call SOTI Support team(click here) to raise a Feature Request to force/enable roaming on iOS devices. These feature requests should be insisted by customers via Support case.

To provide you an heads up, this would not be an instant resolution as SOTI Product Team should communicate with iOS Team to leverage this feature to be managed by MobiControl. So, this may take weeks to months to get it included in the new build. Please follow the release notes of SOTI MobiControl to get an update on the improvements done on the new release.

https://docs.soti.net/soti-mobicontrol/release-notes/

Also, if this post has helped you in solving your inquiry, I would request you to mark the particular comment as "is solution", so others may benefit from this information.
