Get a list of devices with version of installed software.

I would like to get a list that shows which version of a specific app is installed on all/selected devices.

For example I want to see how many devices have WhatsApp installed on them and which version is installed on each device.

Is there a way to do this without creating a custom report?

If not, then our MobiControl is on the cloud and to have this report made by Soti support requires that the company pays a fee but since this might be a one time thing it might be more feasible to design the custom report myself. However I'd need the DB details & table names on our instance of MobiControl so is this something that Soti provides or not?

Using MobiControl 14.1.4.1693 with Android Plus devices.

They are canned reports in the Reports tab of Android-Plus platform tab.

I cannot find the reports called "Installed Application (Detailed)" or "Installed Applications with Name and Version" in the list of available reports. Are those custom reports or were they removed by someone from our instance?

Given that you have MobiControl 14.x you could possibly also use the dynamic search options to filter your inventory by specific app versions. The search option allows you to quickly manipulate your filter criteria on the fly in the event that you just want to quickly query something about your device inventory.

For you example of finding whatsapp version for sets of devices, you can try the following two-step process

1. Generate an "Installed Application (Detailed)" report on targeted groups/devices to output an Excel output file.  Sort/Filter the spreadsheet based on the "Name" and "Version" columns to find out what versions of Whatsapp are there.

2. Generate an "Installed Applications with Name and Version" report to output Excel/pdf output file for each version number found in step 1.  Here, you have to enter "Whatsapp" as the Application Name, and  also the targeted "Version Number".

Though this can be a little bit tedious, but you don't have to wait for anyone to help, and this will very likely be much easier than creating your own custom report from a MobiControl cloud instance.

Actually, if you are good at writing script to manipulate Excel file, you can just generate the report in step (1) for all devices, and append the device name and device ID in 2 newly added columns before each app item of the corresponding device, and then perform some sorting/filtering function on the application's "Name" and "Version" columns , you can get all you want in 1 step.
