IOS BYOD Corporate Email Config

IOS BYOD Corporate Email Config

Hi

I wonder if someone could give me some help with an issue i am having.

I have recently setup a byod policy for Apple devices where as i have setup:-

  • Apple Business Manager
    •  connected it to our azure environment.
    • added domain infomation
  • VPP Profile
  • APNS
  • created managed Apple IDs for the devcies
  • Enrolled devcies onto Soti
  • Pushed down a web clip for download apps

However I am struggling with the email configuration, I would like the devices to receive an email confuration so that the end user only needs to type in their user password however when the profile is uploaded to the devcie the only infomation passed over to the devcie is the mail server address which i manually typed into the profile.

The domain infomation, User and email configuration do not appear to to hit the devcie.

The settings i am using are:-

Domain:- %ENROLLEDUSER_DOMAIN%

User:-%ENROLLEDUSER_UPN%

Email Configuration:-%ENROLLEDUSER_EMAIL%

the vewrsion of mobicontrol i am using is: 15.0.1.1181

Regards

Mark

Hi Mark,

Did you set your mentioned parameters, namely

   Domain:- %ENROLLEDUSER_DOMAIN%

   User:-%ENROLLEDUSER_UPN%

   Email Configuration:-%ENROLLEDUSER_EMAIL%

anywhere via your web-console?

good morning

no I have not tried that yet i was hoping to use the native mail app within IOS, so wasnt sure if that would work for me.

also i am unsure how to configure the app using URI as it looks like a bit of knowledge on XML would be useful and i dont have that!

thanks

Hi Raymond

we did link the soti console to aour azure environment, but i am not sure if we have specifed those directly.

I think i presumed that they would be picked up by azure.

EDIT - actually we have a similar rule for Android and outlook where we use the presets and that works ok

Hi Mark,

In order to be able to use the %ENROLLEDUSER% macros, you need to:

1. Configure your Azure AD connection under the "Directory Service Configuration" section of Global Settings

2. Configure the Azure AD as an Identity Provider under the "Identity Provider Configuration" section of Global Settings.  You'll need to link this Identity Provider configuration with the Azure AD connection you configured in Step 1 by selecting it under the "Group Settings"

3. Select the Azure AD connection configured in step 1 in your Apple Add Device Rule when selecting the type of Managed Apple IDs that will be authorized to enroll.

4. Select the Azure AD Identity Provider configured in Step 2 in your Apple Add Device Rule when selecting the type of authentication you want in your enrollment webpages.

Hope this helps!

Thankyou we have already attached our azure domain to soti but will raise the above with our internal infrastructure team to confirm the config.

Hi Mark,

Did you get a chance to perform the steps mentioned by Adil Katchi?

If Adil's comment helped you in solving your inquiry, I would request you to mark it as "is solution", so others may benefit from this information.
