Mobicontrol Agent closes shortly after SOTI Surf is turned on.

Hello,

I have been working to try and get SOTI Surf to open a website in kiosk mode to create display tablets. Loading SOTI Surf automatically was no problem. However, shortly after SOTI Surf turns on, the Mobicontrol Agent shuts down. After this, the device goes offline in the SOTI Mobicontrol console and cannot be managed or remotely controlled until someone goes to the tablet, closes SOTI Surf and reopens Mobicontrol Agent.

I was searching around and I can't seem to find any past solutions to this issue. Any help would be appreciated.

Thank you for posting in SOTI Central.

 

Firstly ensure you're using the latest release of SOTI Surf, the release notes can be found via HERE. On top of that, ensure you're selecting the "Kiosk Mode" option within the Profile Configuration. And make sure you're using the latest agent version if the above suggests don't resolve the issue.

Hi Brian,

 

Using the LATEST version may not always be the best solution.   You might need to consider other factors.

 

Please note that if your Soti MobiControl server version is comparatively old with respect to Soti Surf agent, it is possible that some new Soti Surf configurable options/parameters are not available in the Soti Surf profile on your web-console user-interface.

 

Also,  you might need to check compatibility of the new Soti Surf app with your current device firmware. There might be a need to upgrade your device firmware.
