MobiControl v13, Android Plus Clear App Cache

MobiControl v13, Android Plus Clear App Cache

Is there a way to script "clearing" the cache of an app by using Mobi.

In the example, we need to clear the app cache of google Maps however the only way I know to do this presently is to go to settings, then app, then google maps and then click clear cache. This works fine for a few devices but I may need to do it for hundreds. Any suggestions?

Hi Martin,

Thanks for posting your query!

The below script wipes application data for the specified application from the device:

wipeapplication packagename

where, packagename is the build id of that package.

Please test this script on one of the test devices to confirm its working for you.

Hi Martin,

this should work with the following command: wipeapplication [app identifier]

If an Android app includes routines to clear its own cache upon receiving an Android intent, then Soti MobiControl should be able to initiate a cache-clearing operation via MobiControl's sendintent script command.   I briefly did a search on the web  but could not find any documentation about such mechanism for "Google Map" app.

If there is really no such mechanism, the next thing you can try is to use MobiControl "wipeapplication" script command, which will erase not just the cache of the app specified, but ALL of its data.  You can try it out for your Google Map version, and see if the command fits your purpose, or if it is an overkill.
