Remote Control Android Oreo

Remote Control Android Oreo

Hello,

We are testing some Android Oreo devices (Samsung J6) as Android+ and Android Enterprise and we have found that remote control does not show screen image. Buttons work (home, back, volume).Screen is shown as a white image and even if you clic in some area where it happens to be and icon, it opens the app.

We tested Android+ agent version 13.5.1 Build 1044 (the latest) and Android Enterprise versión 13.5.1 Build 1234 (latest)

with Mobicontrol servers version 13.3.0.3454, 14.1.6.1113 and 14.1.7.1101

I appreciate your comments and suggestions.

Did you have "disable screen capture" option of feature control profile checked?   Some new device agents rely on screen capture function to support remote control for some of their supported devices.

You may also check if you have not grant any relevant apps permissions associated with your MobiControl device agent.

I tested various Samsung Oreo devices with either 13.5.0.1677 or your mentioned 13.5.1.1044 ELM device agents on v13.4.0.5003 server, and remote control just works fine in all cases.  If my mentioned feature control has not been selected, it is very likely that the agent(s) you used has incompatibility with the device firmware.  You can try different agent versions/build number and see if you can find one that works.  If all has same/similar problem, the root cause can be your device firmware itself.  Though very rare, I did encounter such cases for Samsung and other device brands in the past.  If that is really the case, you can just wait for a firmware upgrade from Samsung.
