Running pre/post install scripts in Windows SOTI Packages

Running pre/post install scripts in Windows SOTI Packages

Hello,

Does anyone know how to run scripts correctly in pre/post context with SOTI packages? For instance, I want SOTI to launch a program after running an installer. If I type the command in cmd the program launches fine. If I run it through SOTI's "Send Script" or in a install script, it does nothing. My understanding is SOTI launches and runs commands under the current user, so if I can run it manually without an admin prompt it should work.

Thanks!

Actually, some of the script commands documented in Soti's online manual (such as https://www.soti.net/mc/help/v15.3/en/scriptcmds/scriptcmdsindex.html ) might work in other script usage scenario and not in pre- or post- script of .pcg package.

I don't know exactly which script command(s) you used and failed, but you might try again by adding some time delay (say 10-30 seconds) before launching the app in your post-install script.  Frankly, I haven't tried anything similar on a Windows devices for a few years already.

Hi Ian,

Thank you for posting in SOTI Central.

Only the script commands are supported for the pre/post-install scripts. Reference this link https://www.soti.net/mc/help/v15.3/en/scriptcmds/scriptcmdsindex.html and then adjust your scripts accordingly.

If this resolves your query, please mark this post as the solution. Also, feel free to reach out if you need clarification or have any follow-up questions.
