Samsung A01 Remote View

Samsung A01 Remote View

Hi everyone,

Recently I enrolled around 90 Samsung A01 devices for 1 of my client.

I enrolled it using AE through Zero Touch portal. My Mobicontrol version is 15.3.0.6711

After enrollment i found out 1 device can't do Remote Control. The API that showed only Remote View. It's weird because the rest of the device all can do Remote Control.

Anyone experienced this before?

Maybe someone has suggestion to my issue..

Thanks & regards,

Randy Saputra

Hi Randy,

Thank you for posting in SOTI Central.

Try sending "retryrcdetection" as a Script Action to the affected device, that should do the trick. Prior to this, you should see "RC Error" under the Supported APIs section of the device, which will confirm the issue.

i just checked on OS version, and that particular Samsung device got upgraded to Android 11.

I already take a preventation to OS update, i set OS update to postpone 3 months ago, but it seems the device finally upgraded itself.

Is Android 11 not support RC ?

Should i try the script above to this device? Or maybe is there any workaround to disable update to the rest of the device?

Remote control feature really important for my client, they used it daily to assist sales team that using the device.

Thanks & regards,

Hi Randy,

If you open the device within your Web Console, then navigate to "Android Enterprise" via "Device Details". Does it show as "Work Managed Device"?

Android 11 does  support Remote Control.

Incorrect RC detection during device enrollment can sometimes happen.  Checking the MDM api manually or with alert rule may be a good practice if remote-control function is essential.

Different firmware/agent versions  may have slightly different way to block device firmware upgrade.  Do some test on your device to confirm you have used the right way.

If possible, I advise my customer to block as long as possible instead of for months.  Available firmware upgrade should be monitored, and thorough tests on compatibility with device agent/server and enteprise apps should be done on test device(s) before considering whether to unblock to allow upgrade for production devices.
