Set app permission for Samsung Galaxy S5

Set app permission for Samsung Galaxy S5

Hi everybody,

is it possible to grant permissions to access the device storage for an app which was not installed by SOTI Mobi Control?

By default the app does not have any permissions. Setting the permissions via the device settings is not an option for us.

Are there any solutions with "writesecuresettings" or anything else?

Watchsettings did not produce a log entry.

How are the devices managed? If it's not an option to enable users to manually grant the permissions then I'm assuming COSU with either Android+(DA) or Android Enterprise (DO)? In that case, can you reinstall the application via a SOTI package so that the permissions can be inherently granted?

We are using Android+ managed devices.

The applications are sideloaded via usb cable and they need the permission to write on internal storage.

Hi Simon

If MobiControl is installing the APK via pakage then it usually allows relevant permissions.  This is how our in-house apps are done.  CAVEAT - Android 7 we have sometimes had to go into the application list in settings and manually enable permission - I think this is a flaw in our app build process rather than an issue with MobiControl permission management.

If APK is manually installed (and once you're past Unknown Devices checkpoint) you are asked if you want to grant permissions so storage/camera etc.

Hi Eddie,

thanks a lot.

We are now talking to our app developers. They have to add a pop up for the end user to ask for specific permissions.
