Set device language with Mobicontrol Android +

Set device language with Mobicontrol Android +

Hello, I want to set device language via Mobicontrol Android + via command / script. They are currently in English and I want to change it in another language supported by the device.

In tests done on hundreds of Android+ devices of different brands/models in the last 5+ years, I was able to set languages with MobiControl script only in a handful of Samsung tablets running Android 4.x.   I would say it's very unlikely you can find any such support in the more recent Android 6-9 devices in any device brand/model.   The only exceptions are possibly Zebra devices,  in which you may be able to set language with Zebra's proprietary MX layer control, rather than with MobiControl script.

Thanks, do you know the possibility of changing voice search language?

command maybe :

content://settings/secure SETTING:enabled_input_methods VALUE:com.google.android.googlequicksearchbox/com.google.android.voicesearch.ime.VoiceInputMethodService:com.google.android.inputmethod.latin/com.android.inputmethod.latin.LatinIME:com.google.android.inputmethod.latin|

To RC's point, if the devices are Zebra Android you can leverage MX to configure the locale:

With the Availablity of OEMConfig compatible apps from different device hardware vendors for Android-Enterprise devices,  there is possibility that some device Settings parameters can now be configured via MDM/EMM/UEM solution such as Soti MobiControl.  This should be the trend and the probability of achieving the same configuration with script is getting less likely..

To make the most dynamic and indpendent control of Settings available for your device brand, do not include apps other than OEMconfig app in your app-catalog rule for each group of devices using the same set of configurations.

Using this mechanism, there is no need to ask MDM vendor which parameters can be configured on which which brand or which models.  Instead, ask the support team of the hardware devices you are using, and they can provide fixes and/or new features with updates in their own OEMConfig apps.
