Time sync failed with wifi on Coppernic C-five device

Time sync failed with wifi on Coppernic C-five device

Server version is 14.18

C-five agent version is 13.6

We have no problem to sync the time on WAN connection but when the device is connected on wifi, the time is not synchronized.

I think we have to configure the firewall to authorize the sync, can you please help me ?

You have to configure all related firewall(s) such that your devices can access the NTP-server/MobiControl server (depending on the configuration of your time-sync advanced-configuration) via the Wifi access point(s).

Thank you Raymond but where can I found more details about the sync time configuration. On the help, I have the configuration of Mobicontrol but I need more informations to understand how it works and what configuration I have to apply on the different equipments ( Firewall, wifi AP, Mobicontrol, PDA)

Hello,

You don't need another port in order to sync time with the server.

If you use NTP servers, make sure your wifi network allows access to those servers.

In the log, we have the message ''function not supported (time syncronization''. Do you know why please ?

Are your devices using Android+ or Android Enterprise device agent?  Time synchronization is currently not supported in the latter platform.

I also encountered some smaller OEM brands which do not support time-synchronization in their Android+ device agents, possibly because the OEM managements don't want to invest their engineering resources to modify their firmware to change system date/time when the device agent receives such change request from the MobiControl server.   There is nothing an end customer or Soti can do.  

 

Are you actually from Coppernic that owns the C-five devices?  If so,  check with your colleague coordinating Android+ device agent development/certification, and see if there is a need to implement such feature in an updated version of the device agent.  According to what I know,  the codes on Soti side are always ready.  Whether or not a feature is there depends solely on whether the OEM development team have the resource/time to modify the device firmware to support the needed function.
