Uploading big size files for macOS deploying

Uploading big size files for macOS deploying

Hi together,

how I can upload bigger files to SOTI for deploying? I have a .pkg file with 1.67 GB size. My problem is the upload needs more time then the login timeout. Can someone upload it from the server or change the timeout time? Our server is in the cloud.

Thank you in advance and have a nice weekend

Hi Janni,

Which method did you use to send that file?

Using a File Sync rule would be the best approach to move the huge files from the server to the device. It may take a few minutes to upload, but it would be successful for sure. Later you can send a script to run the executable accordingly.

I would like to make software available to users via the app catalog. I use the "Add Application Catalog Entry" to added. The app are suggested for the user. They can choose if the want it or not.

The File Sync rule push it on the device, right? In addition, the app is not shown in the App Catalog.

Hi Jannigeo,

Do you have the app pushed successfully to all the devices via Application Catalog? If so, the device user will have an option to install it accordingly.

Yes, File Sync Rule will also push the application to the device, but it won't be available under the Application catalog tab. Instead you find it on the specified destination location mentioned on the File Sync rule

Hi,

that is exactly my question. I would like to make the app available via the app catalog so that the user can decide whether to install it or not. But the upload takes longer than the login timeout.

I think it makes no sense to provide optional application software via the file sync rule. When more and bigger apps come, I block unnecessary space on the user's device.
