Why the device is showing just the option remote View - Solved

Hello Everyone

I create a new agent to my device Zebra TC720L Android 8.1, Im using the android fo work option (downloaded from play store) because the server version is not compatible with the device. I can installed and configure it but when I tried to remote control I just have the option. 

I created many agents with different options but I got the same result.

I copy the agent for other sites with the same characteristics and the other devices are working normally but this device shows the same "Remote view"

I checked the scanner ans it shows like the following image.

if you have an idea how I can solve it, It will very appreciated.

You're starting to scratch the surface of Android Enterprise management via trial and error. You enrolled the device under Work Profile instead of Work Managed also known as Fully Managed or AEDO. If you plan on fully managing the device and using features like Remote Control then you will need to factory reset and re-enroll using one of the AEDO enrollment methods (QR, NFC, DPC identifier, ZTE). Since it a Zebra device I suggest the 5 option of StageNow.

Thanks for the post!

If you are looking to Remote Control the device instead of only Remote viewing, then push the Zebra plugin as a package to the device. Please download it from the below site:
Navigate to https://docs.soti.net/mobicontrolagentdownloads > Click on Android Enterprise Agents and Plugins > Select the Manufacturer as 'Zebra' under the Plugin tab > Download it > Push it as a package to the device via web-console.

Perform a check-in once the device gets the plugin. You should be able to remote control the device now.
If in case the Supported API's under the device details tab on web-console still do not change, then re-send the scripts:
_resetfailedrcdetectionflag
__switch ENTERPRISE_41 ANDROID_RC_PLUS
restartagent

 

Please share the outcome once you try these steps.

Hello Edwyn G,

 

Thank you for your post, you have enrolled your device as Work Profile due which you are getting only Remote View option and that's the functionality of Work Profile devices.

If you want to Remote Control the device and also have to be managed, please enroll it as Work Managed Device, please refer below links for better understanding and let me know if you have any questions or concerns.

Hello

I tried to download the plugin for Oreo Android Devices but when I treid to intall I got the error issue message.

Any suggestions?

Hello Edwyn,

 

Thank you for your response, it is giving you error because device is enrolled as Work Profile and that plugin is used for Managed Devices. You have to enroll your device as Work Managed Device to Remote Control the device.

Thanks for the reply, I created a new agent trying to download the APK from the server (in my computer the I transfer to the Scanner) and I got an error issue.



Also I tried download it following the steps in the email (I open a google account to do it) but I got the same error issue, the only option where the agent worked and connect to the server was download the Play sotre Application the join the server, but automatically it downloaded Mobicontrol for work and automatically the device is managed by the application,

The crash course on Android Enterprise continues. If you had read my first response you would know that the valid options for AEDO are QR, NFC, DPC Indentifier, ZTE, and StageNow. Manually downloading the agent and installing it either via sideload or from the Play Store will not work if you want the device to be Fully Managed under AEDO in order to be able to leverage functionality like Remote Control. I suggest you research more into the fundamentals of Android Enterprise first as these are foundational concepts that will make a lot more sense if you understand how they work outside of MobiControl so that you can see what SOTI has done to implement them.

Hello Matt

I fixed the issue, I create a MDM profile in Stage now (https://supportcommunity.zebra.com/s/article/StageNow-Enrolling-into-Soti-As-Device-Owner-DO?language=en_US) and the application was able to install, once the application was working I send the plugin tru Mobicontrol Console then this change the way to connect and I was able to remote control the application 

 

Steps to install the plug in

The issue is solved
