Wish list for Zebra AE functionality...

Since Zebra appears to be motivated to bridge the functionality gap between DA and AEDO, let's use this thread to list what you want to see them add.

If you see another post in the list you identify with and don't need any additional comment, use the upvote to add your weight to that feature.

Point might be somewhat moot if most of these are not available even if enabled but...

From the previous thread, not sure if this is a SOTI or if Zebra can just provide it in MX, but how about:

grant android.permission.WRITE_SECURE_SETTINGS permission silently?

This topic does only make sense, as if Zebra will add the MX to all/most devices.

For e.g. (writesecuresetting -sys show_password 0) is available as Matt Dermody said but the Zebra TC51 doesn't got this MX-Version yet... so aren't able to use it.

I think on the whole Zebra does a relatively decent job in getting the MX versions updated across the product line.  The latest available for the TC51/56 is 9.0.4.3.  The referenced password item is actually supported beginning in MX9.1 (assuming you're also on OS v8) so I suspect it will be available in the next Lifeguard update or so.

Also keep in mind that some configuration options may only be possible in minimum versions of Android as well, which is what the OSX sub-distinction is supposed to indicate. A device like a WT6000 which is limited to the N or a TC8000 which is limited to L may not support a particular MX feature because they don't have the right OSX level, even if they are at the minimum MX level.

Where did you see it was MX9.1? It is showing as MX7.0 on the Zebra site. I ran it on a 7.1.2 OS and it processed without errors, but also didn't change the icon state.  I'll ask about it

Sorry, my mistake: MX7.0. The settings is working fine for us (Android 9.0 / 02-11-01.00-PG-U06-STD)
